How to start preparation for ISRO?
ISRO may conduct the Scientist/Engineer exam for Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Electronics, and Computer Science streams. Syllabus for ISRO Scientist/Engineer (SC) exam? There is no pre-defined syllabus for the examination. However, from the previous year’s question paper’s analysis, we can infer that Syllabus is based on the questions asked in previous year ISRO Exams and it is a similar pattern as GATE.
Tips to prepare ISRO Exam
- Syllabus for the ISRO exam is not mentioned officially, so we will provide the syllabus based on weightage analysis of previous papers that can help you in preparation for the ISRO exam.
- The most important thing is to list all subjects and start preparing according to weightage of marks in the previous year’s papers.
- Focus on research and understanding topics while preparing the topic instead of memorizing. It will also help you to crack the interview after the written test.
- Prepare for Gate, so that you can easily crack ISRO exam
Resources to prepare for ISRO Exam:
- More than 90 percent of ISRO questions will be asked from the GATE syllabus. So you can depend on the GATE syllabus or undergraduate syllabus to cover the topics for the ISRO exam.
- Once the syllabus is covered, you must practice previous year questions of ISRO.
- 20 to 30 percent of questions would be repeated from previous year.
- You can practice the questions from GATE, DRDO, other exams previous year questions. Here GATE exam could cover difficult (time taking) questions and you can omit such questions in your practice.
- ISRO questions will be asked easy type but require an understanding of fundamentals.
- Many of the questions of the ISRO exam depends on facts, formulas and methods/techniques.
ISRO Exam Pattern
- There will be 80 Questions (objective type) carrying equal marks in the ISRO written test.
- There is negative marking (33%) in the ISRO Exam Pattern.
- For each wrong response, you lose 33% marks allotted to the Questions.
- Upon clearing the Written Test, you will be shortlisted for Interview. You need to score minimum of 60% marks in the ISRO interview to get selected.
- Final selection will take place on the basis of Interview only, and not the written test (ISRO written exam is to reach ISRO interview).
ISRO Selection Process 2020
- The shortlisting for the written test will be based on the candidate’s academic performance and Biodata. This process is called the Screening of Applications.
- Once you are shortlisted, you will be sent a Call Letters via E-mail for the next stage i.e Written Test.
- The main selection process has two stages – ISRO Written Test and ISRO Interview.
- Once you crack ISRO written – You will be called for ISRO interview
- Final Selection is based only on ISRO interview
